Position Summary:

The Operations Manager for the CNC machine shop oversees the daily operations, production processes, and team management. This role ensures the efficient and safe manufacturing of precision components using CNC machinery. The Operations Manager will be responsible for optimizing production schedules, improving operational efficiencies, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Management:

· Oversee the daily operation of CNC machines and ensure production schedules are met.

· Develop and implement production plans to optimize workflow and ensure on-time delivery of products.

· Coordinate with engineering, production teams, and other departments to align production goals with customer requirements.

· Troubleshoot machine and operational issues to minimize downtime and production delays.

Team Leadership & Supervision:

· Manage and lead a team of machinists, CNC operators, and shop floor personnel.

· Conduct performance evaluations, provide training, and support the development of team members.

· Foster a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and safety on the shop floor.

· Schedule shifts and assign tasks to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.

Process Improvement:

· Identify and implement process improvements to increase production efficiency and reduce costs.

· Improve workflow using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process optimization techniques.

· Analyze production data, quality metrics, and machine performance to drive improvements.

Quality Control:

· Ensure that all products meet quality specifications and customer requirements.

· Oversee the inspection and testing processes to ensure compliance with quality standards.

· Work with the quality control team to investigate defects and implement corrective actions.

Inventory & Supply Chain Management:

· Manage the inventory of raw materials, tools, and other supplies.

· Work closely with the purchasing department to ensure timely procurement of materials and parts.

· Ensure efficient use of resources to minimize waste and reduce costs.

Health & Safety Compliance:

· Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and industry standards.

· Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and mitigate risks.

· Provide ongoing safety training to employees and ensure adherence to OSHA guidelines and best practices.

Reporting & Documentation:

· Maintain accurate records of production schedules, performance metrics, and operational reports.

· Provide regular updates to senior management on production status, operational challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

· Manage and maintain equipment maintenance schedules to ensure machines are operating at optimal capacity.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

· Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field (preferred).

· Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing or operations management, with at least 3 years in a CNC machine shop environment; and

· 10 years as a CNC Machinist.

· Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, and equipment.

Skills & Competencies:

· Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.

· Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

· Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement techniques.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.

· Proficient in using ERP or production management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

· Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

Working Conditions:

· Full-time, exempt position.

· The work environment includes regular exposure to machinery, noise, and physical demands typical of a CNC machine shop.

· Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs. as required.

· Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary based on production needs.

· Pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
