Job description
Job Title: Probation Officer - Full Time
Location: Northern Judicial Circuit (Franklin, Hart, Elbert, Madison, and Oglethorpe Counties)
Closing Date: Until filled
Job Description:
- Monitors probationers through scheduled and unscheduled contacts and record checks.
- Ensures compliance with all conditions as ordered by the court. Visits probationers at home if needed.
- Prepares court documents relevant to the probationer’s case.
- Investigates violations of probation and initiates warrants, revocation petitions, and/or other appropriate actions when necessary.
- Abides by all Departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain annual certification by attending a minimum of 20 hours of required training.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree, or a minimum of two years of advanced education (90 quarter or 60 semester hours), from an accredited institution or minimum 4 years as a sworn Peace Officer.
Be at least 21 years of age and have a valid driver’s license
Requires the ability to be accepted into the POST Academy within one year of date of hire and successfully complete requirements for Sworn Peace Officer certification
