General Statement of Duties
An employee in this class provides a variety of routine, sensitive and confidential clerical records management and recordkeeping support. Duties include assisting with employment records; following retention schedules to ensure appropriate disposition of records; maintaining assigned employment-related records by organizing, scanning, filing, storing, and retrieving significant volumes of hard copy and electronic records. Assisting with department inventory (i.e., organizing, storing and retrieving supplies) with occasional local purchasing; and completing assigned data entry tasks. Additional duties may include assisting with the preparation and set up of events. Must be able to work independently in file and inventory storage locations and exercise judgment in applying procedures and guidelines to current, new, and special recordkeeping activities in accordance with federal, state and local employment laws through sound recordkeeping requirements under the direct supervision of the Assistant Human Resources and Risk Management Director.
The work schedule for this position is 25 hours per week.
Duties and Responsibilities/Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Some office procedure knowledge and ability to use correct grammar, vocabulary, and spelling.
Ability to proficiently use Outlook, Word, Excel, and electronic information systems.
Ability to keyboard or type with accuracy at the speed required by the particular program or person giving assignments.
Ability to scan and save files in PDF and other information systems formats.
Ability to compile materials from program sources and record information.
Ability to operate any office machines required by the position such as computer, copier, and scanner.
Ability to arrange and place records, reports and files into proper sequence.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, and supervisors.
Desirable Education and Experience
High School Diploma
Other Information
Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
