JOB PURPOSE AND OVERVIEW
The Franklin County Municipal Court is one of the state's largest and busiest municipal courts. The Court has fourteen judges in the General Division and one in the Environmental Division. Judges are elected countywide for six-year terms, preside over civil, criminal, and traffic cases, and conduct both jury and non-jury trials. The Court's jurisdiction includes cases involving traffic offenses, criminal misdemeanors, and civil actions where the amount is $15,000 or less. The Environmental Division has exclusive jurisdiction to enforce local codes and regulations affecting real property, such as fire and building codes. The Court has six magistrates who preside in traffic arraignments, eviction cases, and small claims cases; one magistrate who presides in the Environmental Division under the supervision of the Environmental Judge. All the Court's employees are unclassified, at will, and serve at the pleasure of the Court.
The Court's geographic jurisdiction is all of Franklin County and those portions of the City of Columbus that extend beyond the boundaries of Franklin County. Despite its jurisdiction and name, the Franklin County Municipal Court is the judicial branch of the City of Columbus government, from which it receives most of its funding.
The Court Support Services Supervisor reports to the Court Support Services Manager and assists the Court Support Services Manager with department operations and staff supervision. This position also serves as an unassigned bailiff. It provides coverage for the Duty Room Bailiff, Arraignment Bailiff, Judicial Bailiffs, and Magistrates' Bailiffs and assists the Court Support Services Officers as necessary. Additionally, this position administers the Court's volunteer service activities, including recruitment, screening, and placement of volunteers.

1. Assist the Court Support Services Manager with daily operations and supervision of Court Support staff, including training, scheduling, coaching, and disciplining staff.
2. Assist with developing department policies and procedures.
3. Oversee and coordinate all aspects of forensic psychological cases, serving as the primary point of contact for stakeholders.
4. Create and update court entries related to forensic cases and provide necessary entries at scheduled hearings.
5. Electronically distribute forensic reports to all parties and file them under seal with the Clerk of Courts.
6. Attend scheduled hearings and provide professional consultation to all parties.
7. Enforce and adhere to statutory timelines for forensic cases.
8. Assist with the transfer of defendants to the OhioMHAS regional hospital based on court orders.
9. Track relevant data and maintain complete files.
10. Act as liaison between the court, jail, attorneys, and community stakeholders.
11. Complete e-filing of Probate Court commitments.
12. Build and maintain strong working relationships with contracted providers, process referrals and invoices.
13. Provide coverage for Judicial and Magistrates Bailiffs, including preparing daily dockets and case files, facilitating paperwork flow, using authorized databases, monitoring pending motions and civil caseload status, scheduling hearings and maintaining courtroom operations, coordinating juror supervision during trials.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, business management, or a related field. Core course work in Business Management, Office Management, or a closely related field and two (2) years of experience in Franklin County Municipal Court that demonstrates progressive supervisory experience.
2. Ability to direct others to complete tasks in a coordinated manner among various departments as the judges and magistrates have requested.
3. A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, business management, or a related field. Core course work in Business Management, Office Management, or a closely related field and two (2) years of experience in Franklin County Municipal Court that demonstrates progressive supervisory experience.
4. Ability to apply principles of persuasion and influence over others in maintaining proper courtroom decorum and carrying out job responsibilities.
5. Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
6. Ability to operate, maneuver, and control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and materials used in performing essential functions.
7. Ability to utilize various reference, descriptive, and advisory data and information.
8. Possesses or acquires a complete understanding of each position in the department and the ability to perform all associated duties.
