NATURE OF WORK
Under general supervision, provides support to Planning and Zoning staff and assistance to the residents of Franklin County. Accepts, reviews, and files various permit applications; maintains department filing systems and records.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

- Greets walk-in customers; answers phones; responds to questions and provides information related to department processes and regulations; receives requests for information for the County Clerk's Office and the general public.
- Receives, tracks, and returns building permits submitted for review; accepts various planning and zoning and addressing applications; reviews applications to ensure all necessary information is included and all fees have been paid; drafts rejection letters for incomplete, inaccurate, and unpaid applications.
- Creates, tracks, and maintains files in Planning and Zoning database; documents all actions taken regarding each file.; updates and archives all files, zoning maps, regulations, transcripts, policy manuals, financial documents, department calendars; and Master Plans.
- Collects fees and other payments; prepares receipts and invoices; documents all payments electronically.
- Responsible for Planning and Zoning and Board of Zoning Adjustment meeting preparations including agendas, minutes, supporting documentation, and technology set-up. Attends all meetings.
- Provides general administrative support; drafts various types of documents; sorts mail; orders office supplies; creates meeting agendas; prepares and files reports; schedules meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Work is performed in a standard office environment and involves sitting for extended periods of time, standing, walking, bending reaching, and lifting of objects up to 25 pounds.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS :
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND two (2) years of administrative experience.
Depending on area of assignment, a valid Driver's License, Notary Public License, and / or other specialized certifications may be required.
