Description
The Director, Finance for USCAN, will strategically lead across functional teams and across regions by providing and developing financial analysis for actual/forecast/AOP consolidation reporting, new product development, new business acquisition as well as initiate process improvements that impact overall P&L. Responsibilities include developing/training for commercial teams in proactive, standardized financial analysis. Creating financial consolidations for the Commercial USCAN actual reporting and variance analysis, quarterly projections, forecasts, and AOP to ensure assumptions are aligned for P&L/WC improvements. A key focus for successful, cooperative business partnership includes proactively providing financial support, data interpretation and advising leaders of corrective actions to ensure long-term achievement of key strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis
- Develops and implements consistent financial analysis tools for early warnings across USCAN Commercial business leaders with data interpretation including margin analysis, mix, sales, deductions, costs, SCM, SG&A, NPD and leveraging top customer relationships
- Implements tools/reports to reduce the impact of changes on business profitability
- M&A / business case modeling finance leader in the development and evaluation of business projects, new product development, new business acquisitions, restructuring, cost reductions, and operation improvement strategies
- Design, develop and maintain all reporting requirements for consolidation on actuals, forecasts, AOP, R&O and LRP leveraging IT tools and other opportunities for standardization and automation
- Develop and create financial reporting improvements to positively impact P&L/WC optimization
- Leads monthly/quarterly consolidation of actuals, projections, forecasts, Long Range Plan (LRP), AOP, Risk/Opportunity analysis and related plans
- Leads resolution on actuals, forecasts/AOP and WT LRP issues, disconnects, bottlenecks or system limitations to resolve timely and with subject matter experts
- Identifying and building of robust processes and ease of information sharing from and between process partners
- Supports the weekly closing ensuring linkage to projections and presentations (Commercial Staff, Ops Review, BOD) to investigate gaps to targeted results
- Leads and builds additional rigor with E&O, Bad Debt, Warranty/Returns, Engineering SGA and Project Case Analysis, Headcount/Compensation movements transparency and issue resolution.
- Leader in rolling out training across Commercial USCAN Finance organization including process partners interconnections / interdependencies
- Responsible for continuous improvement of financial techniques and their implementation throughout the USCAN Commercial Unit particularly as it relates to improvements in the quality and timeliness of management insightful information
Prepare, review and interpret financial results
- Develops detailed financial reviews using financial modeling/trends for critical decisions
- Owner of long range plan leveraging history and building a flexible model for changes in assumptions
- Leads collaboration with process partners on best approach to gaining insights to drivers of change and estimates leveraging existing tools and provide enhancements as needed
- Analyze and report on entries being booked in Corporate on behalf of Commercial USCAN in order to explain to management
- Provide support regarding accounting and other questions across corporate functions
- Leader in discipline and rigor in month end, QTD, YTD reporting and analysis across KPIs
- Leader in WC and visibility to drivers of change, work with Credit on key deliverables, and rollout disciplined processes with coordinated efforts of Commercial USCAN sales and finance teams and credit.
Management
- Demonstrate strategic, cross-functional leadership across business partnerships
- Collaborate with multi-nationals in a matrix/functional environment
- Lead financial analysis and reporting training across functions and locations
- High influenceable character and change agent.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Skills and Abilities
- Leverages business expertise as it relates to IC markup, pricing analysis, mix to support organization adapt new techniques and investigations to gaps
- Ability to explain all parts of the P&L even where expenses may be impacted by corporate policies
- Develop robust, strategic objectives and development plans
- Plans the time, method, manner, and/or performance sequence of own work; may also occasionally assist in planning work assignments performed by others within a limited area of operation
- Frequently makes decisions of both minor and major importance, which may affect the work operations of other employees and/or clientele to a moderate degree
- Proficient in E1, BI and SQL (sequel server) in order to perform ad hoc analysis and create standard analysis that leverage systems
- Assessing financial results, bottlenecks, while offering suggestions and implementing solutions.
- Provide management vital information for decision making on Board, LRP, Forecasts, AOP
- Develop and maintain information and financials used in Board, Leadership meetings.
- Change management agent for finance best practices
- Ad Hoc analysis as needed
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field (required)
- Six plus years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or a related field (required)
- Master of Business Administration degree (preferred)
Computer Skills
- Advanced: Accounting software (JDE preferred), alphanumeric data entry, spreadsheet, word processing/typing.
- Intermediate: Presentation/PowerPoint, Microsoft Business Intelligence.
Certificates and Licenses
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (preferred).
