Long Term Substitute School Psychologist

Position: Long Term Substitute School Psychologist Location: Franklin High School Salary:$175 per diem This is a Long Term Substitute Position that is expected to anticipated need from January 9, 2025 - February 24, 2025 Summary: The Franklin Public School System is seeking an experienced long term substitute school psychologist to work at Franklin High School. The psychologist will work within the special education department as a Team member conducting psychological and educational assessments to evaluate students' learning needs, abilities, and behavioral challenges. They will interpret test results and observational data to identify learning disabilities, and emotional or behavioral disorders and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) or intervention strategies based on assessment findings. They will consult and collaborate with program staff, teachers, administrators, and parents to support children. The psychologist will also work collaboratively with the school counselor to enhance social-emotional learning, mental health supports and services in the building. Based on the standards outlined by the National Association of School Psychologists, the successful candidate will have experience and responsibilities as follows: Consultation:

• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to find effective solutions to learning and behavior problems.
• Help others understand child development and how it affects learning and behavior.

Evaluation:

• Evaluate eligibility for special services.
• Assess academic skills and aptitude for learning.

Intervention:

• Help families and schools manage crises such as death, illness, or community trauma.

Prevention:

• Promote tolerance, understanding, and appreciation of diversity within the school community.
• Develop programs to make schools safer and more effective learning environments.

Research and Planning:

• Use evidence-based research to develop and/or recommend effective interventions.

Candidate will have experience as a school psychologist in the public sector and be familiar with special education process, laws and regulations.
