JOB SUMMARY:   
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for delivering care within his/her license and training to Clinic patients as outlined in approved patient care protocols and under the supervision of a licensed physician.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:
            Responsible to:           Rural Health Clinic Director
            Positions Directly Supervised:            None
            Regular Contact with: All Rural Health personnel, Physicians, and the public.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Obtaining patient histories and performing physical exams.
2. Documenting patient office visits which complete progress notes.
3. Implementing treatment protocols approved by the supervising physician.
4. Monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic intervention in the office and hospital setting.
5. Is accountable and responsible for self directed actions.
6. Works with all Clinic staff to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, staff and visitors
7. Actively participates in the Clinic CQI activities.
8. Maintains current basic CPR, ACLS, certification with a copy of file.
9. Displays an overall positive attitude.
10. Accepts constructive criticism and responds appropriately.
11. Transmits feelings of concern.  Is tactful, courteous, and professional to patients, family, and co-workers.
12. Maintains confidentiality of patients, families, and fellow employees.
13. Exhibits a professional, neat and clean appearance.
14. Reports for duty on time and is prepared to assume duties.
15. Notifies Clinic Administrator of unavoidable absenteeism as soon as possible before Clinic hours.
16. Adheres to all Clinics infection control, hazardous waste, and pharmacy protocols.
17. Follows all policies of the Clinic to include participation in reviewing/revision of Clinic policy yearly.
18. Establish and review patient care policies.
19. Review administrative policies.
20. Provide services in accordance with those policies.
21. Arrange for, or refer patients to, needed services that cannot be provided at the Clinic.
22. Assure that adequate patient health records are maintained and transferred as required when patients are referred.
23. Participate with a physician in a periodic review of the patients’ health records.
24. Is responsible for maintaining records, ensuring they are completely and adequately documented.  That they are readily accessible, and systematically organized.
25.   All other duties as assigned.

• Perform manual dexterity tasks such as taking vital signs, administering injections, and utilizing medical equipment
• Constantly position self, such as bending, stopping, etc. to maintain and access office and medical equipment and provide patient care.
• Operates a computer, office, and patient care machinery.
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, coworkers, etc. via phone, in person, including the ability to clearly discern and respond to verbal inquiries, and exchange accurate information through conversation
• Ability to observe details at close range.
• Frequently move boxes, equipment, etc. weighing up to 20 pounds across the office for various needs.
• Frequently assist with lifting, transferring, or repositioning patients
