What is the Jr. Quant Developer - C#, SQL & Python - responsible for?

OSAM is hiring a Jr. Quantitative Developer/Software Developer to join our Quant Technology team. The ideal candidate will have solid computer science fundamentals, a demonstrated passion for solving problems with technology, and possess strong programming experience. This position is a hands-on role responsible for developing, supporting, and maintaining firmwide research, investment, risk, performance, and trading data-rich platform supported by applications, APIs, and visualization tools. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a strong technical background and excellent communication skills to interface directly with OSAM’s research team.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Jr. Quant Developer – C#, SQL & Python?

• Work directly with senior developers and research group to integrate and optimize research data processes and models
• Design and develop in C# / Python / SQL in a stable and scalable manner
• Build robust data pipelines from many sources of varied levels of data quality, supporting both research demands, ad-hoc client analytic requests, and the core production applications
• Work with researchers, portfolio managers, and quants to implement, support, and run portfolio models
  
  

What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science / related field of study; advanced degree a
• Solid computer science fundamentals
• Knowledge of data structures and algorithms
• 0-1 years of prior professional programming experience
• Excellent communication skills to be able to interact with a wide range of users ranging from very technical (quants) to non-technical
• Strong analytical skillset with demonstrated attention to detail
• Quick learner with the ability to adapt quickly and work in a dynamic environment
• Familiarity with financial markets
• Experience working in a financial services company, ideally in asset management
• Experience working in a front office environment with researchers and portfolio managers
  
  

What technology skill sets are critical to the success of this role?

• C#, Python, and SQL scripting experience (SQL Server)
• Working knowledge developing in MS Visual Studio (or VS Community editions)
• Familiarity with proper source control practices (Git preferred)
• Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code
• Working knowledge developing with Azure technologies

There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. We expect the salary for this position to range between $105,000 and $120,000.
