Job Description:
As a State Vehicle Inspector, you will be responsible for examining motor vehicles to ensure compliance with state-mandated safety and emissions regulations. You will work in a fast-paced environment, providing professional and efficient service to our valued customers while adhering to our company’s mission and values.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to ensure compliance with state safety and emissions standards.
- Check and assess mechanical systems, including brakes, lights, tires, and steering.
- Identify and document wear-and-tear damage or safety concerns.
- Approve or deny vehicles for inspection certifications and issue inspection stickers accordingly.
- Advise service consultants or technicians on recommended repairs for vehicles that fail inspections.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections performed and results.
- Perform additional preventive maintenance tasks, such as multi-point inspections, checking fluid levels, and inspecting belts, hoses, and wipers.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid license as a State Vehicle Inspector (required).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong knowledge of automotive repair, maintenance, and state inspection requirements.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- A customer-focused attitude and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Willingness to work Saturdays.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing, stooping, and bending.
- Ability to exert 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, and greater than 10 lbs. constantly.
- Must work at a production pace with frequent pushing and pulling of materials.
