The CAPS Student Ambassador position supports the Career and Academic Planning Services team with promoting and assisting students with enrollment. The CAPS Student Ambassador will greet visitors as an initial point of contact for current students, as well as other visitors to the Center. They will assist students with account information and supporting registration processes. This position is responsible for promoting advising and registration dates at select campus engagement events. Ability to use varying styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Greet all visitors who enter the Center and inquire about the purpose of their visit.
2. Assess needs and ask appropriate questions to determine relevant resources that the visitor may need from Career Services, Employment Services, Advising, and Transfer.
3. Assist visitors with accessing resources including the Degree Plans in Peoplesoft Career Coach, College Central Network, and Focus2, as well as other online resources.
4. Provide information about upcoming events including employer and college visits, Registration periods, and Academic programs.
5. Provide assistance to students in the computer lab/resource area with class registration. Provide referrals to appropriate staff members for follow up.
6. Answer phones and provide appropriate information as needed. Monitor the flow of Navigate Student platform; the system for making appointments.
7. Assist with social media promotion of the department, services, events, and deadlines.
8. Assist with events to include preparation before the event and day of the event assistance with logistics for Required Orientation Advising & Registration (ROAR), Career, and Transfer
9. Promotion of advising and registration dates at events on campus.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications
1. Current student at Frederick Community College
2. Previous customer service experience
3. Good communication skills
