- NOTE: The upper pay range reflects possible wage rates for internal County transfers and promotions, which are calculated per County policy. Â For external hires, offers are made at the base wage rate, with limited exception.

- Receive and review patient care reports for completeness, accuracy and signature requirements
- Manage processes with third party billing vendors
- Research and correct problems with incomplete documentation on ambulance records; contact responsible individuals for corrections; maintain files that contain confidential medical information in a manner that is auditable as required by Federal law; compile and maintain confidential patient care information documented by ambulance personnel
- Responsible for tracking non-signature or incomplete Electronic Patient Care Reports (ePCR)
- Maintain the strictest confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
- As needed, contact hospitals and medical facilities to obtain necessary patient insurance information
- Respond timely to telephone calls and emails concerning patient inquiries; provide information and assistance to vendors, other County departments/agencies, etc; refer other matters to appropriate staff
- Perform review and follow-up on outstanding billing issues
- Monitor subscription memberships and monthly reporting
- Receive information requests for itemized statements and patient reports
- Monitor and review outstanding reports for correction and updates
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports
- Perform office support duties (e.g. photocopy, file, order supplies, daily mail, etc.)
- Perform other duties as required

- High school graduation or the equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of billing work experience that includes customer service responsibilities
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft 365
- NOTE: Â An Associate's degree or higher earned in Accounting may substitute for the 1 year work experience requirement
- Knowledge of medical billing and coding
- Knowledge of medical terminology and documentation practices
- Familiarity with ambulance transport billing procedures and third-party billing systems
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and federal confidentiality laws
- Ability to learn an electronic patient care reporting system (ePCR)
- Strong and effective mathematical and clerical skills, with the ability to accurately compile, prepare and verify detailed information
- Ability to effectively access and utilize Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail, spreadsheet and other systems and equipment, and to learn new software as it is required
- Discretion and good judgment in dealing with sensitive information and the medical, financial and personal information of others
- Ability to effectively organize work, determine priorities (and reassess as needed), be detail orientated, and complete assigned duties in a timely manner with minimal supervision
- Organizational and problem-solving skills to manage processes and address incomplete documentation
- Ability to research and resolve outstanding billing issues with accuracy
- Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills including the ability to clearly explain policies, regulations and billing information to others
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, vendors and the general public
- Medical billing work experienceÂ
- Ambulance billing work experience
- Experience using an Electronic Patient Care Reporting system
- Experience working as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or current EMT certifications
