Position: This role is a high-impact, career-defining opportunity to build the HRIS function from the ground up, fix Workday, and enable the company’s hyper-growth — with executive visibility and the potential to grow alongside the business. Our Client is hiring a HRIS Director to lead and build the HRIS function, with a primary focus on Workday. The Client implemented Workday two years ago across 10 modules but the system is underutilized and widely viewed as ineffective due to poor setup and lack of internal expertise. The goal is to transform Workday into a high-performing system that can support the company’s rapid growth.
Scope:
- Build HRIS team from scratch (current team is one analyst and one external consultant, using Collaborative for Workday support)
- Act as a Workday evangelist – lead adoption, usability, and optimization
- Balance tactical execution with strategic vision
- Workday modules in use: Payroll, Timekeeping, Learning (no ERP integration)
- Collaborate with IT, Total Rewards, and other HR business leaders
- In office daily - 99% of leadership team is onsite in Virginia Beach
- First goal will be to build critical relationships with HR, Total Rewards, and TA peers and CHRO
You (not expected to tick every box):
- Senior Manager or current Director ready to take the next step
- 5 years experience leading Workday HRIS transformations
- Comfortable in fast-paced, high-growth environments
- Strong player-coach leadership style
- Ability to simplify Workday processes for blue-collar, non-technical users
- Proven relationship builder and change agent

- 15% annual bonus (prorated if starting mid-year)
- Equity package currently valued at $150K-$175K with the potential to 2x/3x in value in 3 years
- Relocation assistance is a lump sum paid out dependent on what's needed based on distance/house sale, etc. - $5-25K
