What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant media position at Fredericksburg Nationals?
Start date : March 18th, 2025 (willing to be flexible for the right candidate, but must be able to begin no later than March 28, 2025)
End date : September 19, 2025
Compensation : TBD - likely a monthly stipend with the POTENTIAL for housing to be provided
This position is designed for recent college grads or soon-to-be college grads with schedule flexibility.
The Fredericksburg Nationals, 2024 Carolina League champions and affiliate of the Washington Nationals, are seeking a Broadcasting and Media Relations Assistant.
This person will serve as the No. 2 broadcaster during all FredNat home games and select road games, and will contribute to day-to-day media relations and writing operations.
This position reports directly to Broadcasting and Media Relations Manager Eric Bach.
Responsibilities : Broadcasting :
Broadcasting :
- Play-by-play for 2-4 innings during 66 FredNat home games and select road games, and color commentary the remainder of the game.
- Assist with soundboard and commercial breaks during games.
- Produce and edit audio and video elements, including highlights, interviews, & commercials
- Other duties as assigned
Writing :
- Writing game recaps, feature stories for the FredNats' program and articles for the FredNats' website.
- Help in writing press releases for roster moves and various club news.
- Other duties as assigned
Media Relations :
- Use Adobe InDesign to create / update daily game notes for media distribution.
- Assist with all media relations efforts including issuing press releases, accommodating interview requests, administering media credentials, as well as other media information and related duties.
- Assist with maintenance of the stadium press box.
- Assist with social media.
- Other duties as assigned.
Candidates should :
- Hold a vast, working knowledge of the game of baseball in several different aspects.
- Possess strong writing and verbal skills.
- Have experience with Adobe Creative Suite (specifically InDesign, Premiere and Audition) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Be willing to learn, work hard, handle multiple projects at once and maintain a professional, respectful attitude.
- Willfully assist in physical tasks such as pulling tarp during rain delays or before / after games.
