Job Description
The State University of New York at Fredonia is seeking a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in Music (Guitar). The successful candidate will be prepared to teach applied lessons, pedagogy, recital seminar, group guitar class for music majors, guitar ensembles, and guitar courses for non-guitar -majors. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and collegial team of faculty and staff who are committed to expanding the boundaries of music in higher education, by not only innovating within existing contexts but also envisioning and enacting new practices informed by critical dialogue and thoughtful engagement with stakeholders within and beyond the school. Our new colleague will help us navigate the shifting landscape of higher education through their contributions to generating change, taking risks, inventing new opportunities, and exploring new ideas and approaches. This is a full-time, 10-month position, beginning on or before August 21, . Some evening and weekend work will be required.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Applied Music Performance, the successful candidate will :
- Teach undergraduate and graduate studio lessons in guitar;
- Contribute to development and revision of courses and curricula, in music performance generally and guitar specifically, to reflect diverse and contemporary theory and practice;
- Support student retention and success through academic advising and efforts toward inclusion and belonging;
- Be active as a recruiter for the School of Music;
- Participate in building and maintaining relationships with prospective undergraduate and graduate students through recruitment and alumni relations;
- Maintain and build relationships with schools, teachers, alumni, and community partners in the area and across the state;
- Participate in committees and provide service to the department , school , university, and profession; and
- Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.
