Description : Overview
General ledger and financial statement preparation for Free TV Networks in addition to processing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Fixed Assets on a timely basis.
Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
Enter approved vendor invoices with proper account coding and attach documentation for invoices to be paid prior to due dates.
Understand work performed by each vendor to ensure proper coding and explanation of budget to actual variances.
Set up new vendors with inclusion of W9 details and verified bank instructions.
Manage vendor inquiries.
Prepare revenue share statements to content and distribution providers on required frequency (monthly or quarterly).
Reconcile benefit invoices to Employee Navigator for accuracy.
Prepare Form 1099s annually.
Accounts Receivable
Generate monthly customer invoices as soon as information is available.
Post customer payments timely once received.
Follow-up on outstanding customer invoices.
Reconcile Wide Orbit Invoicing System and General Ledger.
Financial Statements
Prepare complete and accurate journal entries for month-end close.
Assist in preparation of accurate monthly financial statements and research and explain Balance Sheet, revenue, and expense variances.
Maintain schedules / reconciliations for all Balance Sheet accounts including Prepaid expenses, Licensed Programming, Accounts Receivable, Accrued Expenses, Fixed Assets, etc.
Standardize accounting and workflow processes.
General
Ensure American Express transactions are coded correctly, and support attached in QuickBooks.
Verify Programming Contracts (both costs and title windows) are recorded correctly in the Programming system.
Record amortization for Over-the-Air (OTA) and Free-Ad- Supported TV (FAST) from Programming System.
Coordinate audit requests and provide audit support and documentation as needed.
Recommend and implement internal controls.
Recommend efficient processes for scalability and continuous improvement.
Propose solutions to problems and help establish infrastructure for growth.
Complete special projects as needed.
Work Environment
Hybrid work schedule, in office 3-4 days per week; work from home 1-2 days per week. Normal office environment.
Requirements :
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and general accounting; journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed assets, and report generation required.
QuickBooks Online a plus.
Media industry experience a plus.
Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
Strong organizational, analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated attention to detail with focus on goals and objectives.
Ability to perform self-review of work to detect errors before work is submitted.
Proven ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Ability to work well and communicate with all levels of management, associates, vendors, and customers (executive level presence).
Capable of working independently.
Proven ability to prioritize / complete tasks and manage multiple assignments / deadlines.
Ability to lead projects with multi-discipline team members.
Ability to identify issues and develop and implement solutions with minimal direction.
Ability to conceptualize and build accounting processes from start to finish.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent computer, Microsoft Office-based software, and database experience. Strong excel skills including pivot tables and v-lookups, etc.
Flexibility to work longer hours during month-end / year-end close.
