Description
Live in a dorm setting and supervise the male students of Farrow Hall. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining an approachable rapport with your students as well as providing and maintaining a framework of regulations and organized procedures within which the students will live. You will create an environment conducive to the fulfillment of those educational objectives for which Freed-Hardeman University exists.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Live in the residence hall (dorm) and interact with students daily.
- Supporting the department and college mission and vision.
- Supervising Resident Assistants.
- Reports policy violations to the Dean of Men/Women.
- Maintaining orderly living conditions for students.
- Building a rapport with students.
- Provides a list of needed supplies to the Student Services office manager.
- Providing a weekly report to supervisors.
- Working with students in developing communities conducive to high academic achievement.
- Following up with discipline issues in a timely manner as requested by the Dean of Men/Women.
- Executing emergency protocols, i.e.: fire drills, power outages, medical emergencies, etc. Educate residents about protocols.
- Communicating with Campus Maintenance on needs and preventative maintenance projects.
- Attends training, workshops, and meetings as required.
- CPR Certified
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises 3-4 employees in the Residence Assistant and staff assistants.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Freed-Hardeman University policies. Responsibilities include:
- Conducts interviews, hires, and trains employees
- Plans, assigns, and directs work; evaluates the performance; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
- Must be available around the clock to deal with emergency situations.

Requirements
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to adequately document situations that occur in the Residence Halls. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, parents, both prospective and current students and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to use the Residence Halls budget to provide requested needs for the student population in his/her residence hall.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Ability to recognize the need for referrals to our counseling center.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be comfortable using and learning new technology.
