The Director is responsible for planning, executing, and managing the firm's daily human resources and operational needs. This role requires managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and directing Associate-level staff, while ensuring effective and efficient operations. The HR and Operations Director will play an integral, hands-on role in the firm's HR and Operations team. This is a highly visible position that involves actively engaging with staff at all levels of the organization, managing day-to-day firm operations, and directly contributing to the successful execution of HR and operational initiatives. The Director will be deeply involved in identifying and implementing strategies to improve the firm's operational efficiency, ensuring seamless daily operations while supporting the organization's broader goals.

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000. In addition to base annual compensation, Freedman Consulting offers a comprehensive benefits package and discretionary annual bonus based on individual and firm performance. The firm"s comprehensive benefits package includes healthcare coverage, a 401k profit sharing plan, paid vacation, personal and sick leave, and other valuable benefits. Primary Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vice President for HR, DEIB & Operations, primary responsibilities for the HR and Operations Director include (but are not limited to):
Human Resources & People Administration
- Driving professional development programs including managing the progress review process, supporting performance management systems and needs, and implementing staff training and development.
- Assisting in the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures in collaboration with the Vice President, ensuring alignment with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Monitoring compliance with established policies across the firm and developing clear, effective staff communications to ensure employees understand and adhere to these policies and operational guidelines.
- Managing benefits administration, overseeing the open enrollment process, and providing ongoing guidance to staff.
- Addressing and identifying employee relations issues and determining the appropriate course of action, in collaboration with the Vice President for HR, DEIB & Operations
- Providing guidance to the Senior Operations Associate on managing the firm's internship program, including overseeing intern onboarding, offboarding, and program improvements.
- Leading employee onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Directly supervising the Senior Operations Associate and some supervision of the Administrative Associate.
- Providing oversight and decision making for office operations, including technology, equipment, and facilities management, while delegating the day-to-day responsibilities to the Senior Operations Associate. Supporting the selection, procurement, and inventory management of office solutions, supplies, and equipment.
- Leading planning and execution for firmwide events, staff retreats, and internal meetings.
- Overseeing relationships with office vendors. Ensuring contracts, office closures, security, parking, and related matters are handled efficiently.
- A combination of one or more of the following types of experience in an office environment is required: HR administration/people operations, office management, and/or administrative support
- Working knowledge of labor laws, general human resources, people operations, facilities or office management processes
- Experience designing, implementing, and managing training and professional development programs that enhance employee skills, promote career growth, and align with organizational goals.
- Proven experience in a fast-paced environment, with a strong emphasis on proactive problem-solving, meticulous attention to detail, and successful project planning, coordination, and execution from initiation to completion.
- Demonstrated organizational and project management skills, and success advancing process improvements and enhancing operational efficiency
- Prior experience effectively collaborating across internal teams, supervising team members, and managing relationships with external vendors
- Strong communications skills including verbal and written communication, with the ability to clearly convey information, provide direction, and to effectively delegate tasks
- Excellent technology skills, especially Microsoft Office Suite and Zoom are required; experience with an HRIS or similar employee management tool is highly preferred

- All Freedman Consulting employees based in Washington, DC, follow a hybrid office policy. The firm's hybrid policy values flexibility and seeks in person collaboration when it will be most beneficial in serving client, project team, or firm needs. NOTE: This position includes on-site presence in the firm's Washington, DC office at least one day a week.
