The Inside Sales Account Manager is a vital position at FDG, expanding overall strategy, and ensuring progress forward.
Location
FDG headquarters at 415 Crowell Ln, Lynchburg, VA only
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
CUSTOMER DEVELOPMENT & RETENTION
- Work alongside team to plan, prioritize, and execute customer development and retention
- Develop relationships with military and government customers at all levels including end users, supply, officers and contracting officers
- Execute plan and nurture relationships via video, phone and e-mail
- Qualify and advance new business opportunities
- Meet with key customers annually (limited travel)
- Capture and close opportunities to achieve annual financial goals
OPPORTUNITY CAPTURE
- Use strong research, networking, and communication skills to seek out solutions to customer requirements
- Upon opportunity identification, responsibilities include the following
- Sourcing products and developing quotes
- Researching and engaging vendors
- Proposing products and solutions
- Negotiating with vendors on pricing & delivery
- Recommending contracts or other funding vehicles
- Closing opportunities
- Cultivating relationships to generate repeat business
SALES ADMINISTRATION
- Setup of new customers, new vendors and new products as applicable
- Maintain compliance to all Company policies and Government procurement rules
- Book orders and document delivery instructions
- Track all activities & opportunities
- Manage pipeline and sales forecasts
- Improve sales and relevant professional skills to increase success rate
- Assist in kitting solutions as needed
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- At least three years of defense industry sales experience
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent of professional experience
- Proven record of sales and/or sales support success
- Completion of a Myers-Briggs Indicator Test
- Proficient in MS Office and software systems in a work environment
- Must interact with staff at all levels, showing resourcefulness, flexibility, and professionalism
- Comfortable handling sensitive information with complete confidentiality
- Ability to analyze & synthesize complex information into clear and concise communication
- Team player, self-motivated, eager, curious, enthusiastic, adventurous, honest
- Satisfactory background check
