Summary:

The Director, Vendor Mgmt will provide leadership and guidance in support of vendor management related activities for specific channels or departments and will be required to support process improvements for the department, overall. Will directly oversee the work of VM Analysts and/or VM Administrators. Vendor Management responsibilities include, but is not limited to contract management, monitoring vendor performance, ensuring vendor compliance with regulatory entities, statutory requirements, investor and insurance guidelines, and vendor adherence to contractual terms. Will be expected to manage the personnel reporting to them and push their personnel for continuous development in support of the business areas they manage. Will be expected to assist in departmental process improvements and initiatives for the enhancement of Vendor Management overall.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Strategic and analytical support for the business channels.

  • Review and oversight of vendor agreements, vendor due diligence, and vendor-related issues for the vendors used by the area supported.

  • Implement process improvements.

  • Production of vendor-related reporting to senior and/or executive management.

  • Work closely with business leaders to align a strategic vendor network for the assigned business channel and the goals of the enterprise.

  • Directly supports the oversight of vendors and conducts vendor oversight activities, as needed.

  • Responds to audits and interviews from regulators, as needed.

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has direct reports. Manages staff and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree from a Four (4) year College or University.

  • At least ten (10) year’s related experience, with vendor management.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

None required.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Personal/Organizational Contacts:

Some contact with others; including general public. Purpose of contacts is to provide explanation or interpretation of information. May handle confidential information and some complex matters.

Customer Service Relationships:

Requires moderate interpersonal and communication skills to ensure that customer requests or needs are met. Acknowledges and clarifies customer inquiries, requests, or complaints to ensure that needs are identified, documented and addressed.

Work Complexity:

Tasks and responsibilities require integration of diverse functional areas and involve variables that are more abstract. Work is substantially complex and varied, and requires the interpretation of technical and detailed guidelines, policies and procedures in combination. Problems and issues faced are numerous and undefined, and require detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem. Problems typically impact many departments. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experience and analysis of issues.

Independent Judgement/Problem Solving:

Performs duties within scope of general Company policies, procedures and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures and practices. Refers exceptions to policy and procedures to the supervisor.
