The Freeman Corporation is a large wood veneer manufacturer based on Winchester, KY. We continue to invest heavily to be the supplier of choice to the top producers worldwide of flooring, doors, hardwood plywood, furniture, cabinets, and other industries. We employ approximately 200 people at this facility.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We seek a salesperson to join our team. This position would work closely with the company owners, sales manager, and other sales executives at The Freeman Corporation. This position would be responsible for coordinating veneer sales, developing leads, and maintaining relationships with customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Learn about all aspects of rotary and sliced veneer production processes including log preparation, flitching, slicing, peeling, drying, clipping, grading, and inspecting wood veneer
- Learn the complete grading process and understand the specific quality and service issues that are critical for our customers in the industries that we supply
- Learn the inventory process and what markets are available for different qualities of wood veneer
- Visit clients regularly in North America and potentially all around the world, including attendance at occasional trade shows
- Identify sales opportunities, develop customer leads, manage relationships with customers, and negotiate sales of hardwood veneer
QUALIFICATIONS
- Self-starter with a strong desire to learn – selling veneer requires experience and understanding of the products. We do not expect applicants to know about veneer, but we do require candidates that are inquisitive and have an interest to learn
- Ability to work independently and professionally, including having excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
- Strong negotiating and problem-solving skills
- Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork abilities
- Basic computer skills, including Excel
- Willingness to work on your feet in a factory environment to assist in order preparation and veneer grading and inspection for customers
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree is preferred, but not required
