About the team
For this Director of Curriculum and Instruction position, you'll be working for our high school in Wilmington, Delaware called Freire Charter School Wilmington (8th-12th Grade) : Freire is all about Graduation x 2 – graduation from high school and from college. We challenge our students to achieve higher than they ever have before, and we give them the support they need to get there, including individualized college counseling. The Class of 2024 received acceptances into 81 unique colleges and universities and earned nearly $7M in scholarship award offers. This success is possible because the Freire Wilmington community is a true family, where students and teachers work together to build the future each student wants and deserves.
What you'll do
The Director of Curriculum and Instruction is an administrative position responsible for assisting the Head of School in setting and driving the vision for teaching and learning at Freire. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction will be the driver for student learning and achievement at Freire Wilmington.
Responsibilities
- Leading all mentoring, instructional coaching, and evaluation of teaching staff with the Head of School.
- Determining the school-wide instructional focus and professional development plan for the year.
- Overseeing the development and implementation of a rigorous, college preparatory curriculum including a vertical scope and sequence aligned to state standards and assessment processes.
- Directing the school's standards-based assessment strategies and systems in order to support a data-driven culture.
- Establishing performance goals with instructional staff and ensuring goals are met through regular coaching of teachers.
- Working closely with the Network Performance Management Team to develop and execute a framework for the strategic use of data; support the team in using student and staff performance data to drive improved teaching and learning.
- Observing teachers, providing instructional coaching and managing teacher performance evaluations with the Head of School.
- Supporting the coordination of internal and state assessment.
