PRINCIPAL AT ASHTON ELEMENTARY LOCATED IN ASHTON, ID. ENROLLEMENT APPROX 250 K-5


  • TITLE: Elementary School Principal

  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Idaho Principal’s Certificate.
  • Minimum of four years of full-time certificated experience working with students,

K-12, while under contract in a school setting

  • Completion of an administrative internship or have one year of experience as an administrator in grades K-12.
  • Have completed a state-approved program of at least 30 semester (forty-five quarter) credit hours of graduate study in school administration for the preparation of school principals at an accredited college or university including ISBoE approved teacher evaluation training.

  • REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools and/or Designee.

  • JOB GOALS:


To support the delivery of School District 215’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Standards Achievement Test.


To ensure the reflection and communication of a positive image and attitude toward decisions and functions of the district as they relate to the public, staff, parents, and students. In this position, the principal shall have the authority to delegate certain administrative and supervisory functions that will ensure effective programs in the schools.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Administers the total educational program in the school(s).
  • Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school(s).
  • Programs classes within established guidelines to meet student needs.
  • Ensures that the school’s integrated professional development plan is updated annually or as needed.
  • Establishes guides for proper student conduct and maintaining student discipline.
  • Assists in the recruiting, screening, hiring and training of the school staff.
  • Participates in the assignment of professional and classified personnel in the school and conducts evaluations in accordance with district policies and procedures.
  • Plans, organizes and directs the implementation of all school activities.
  • Orients newly assigned staff members and assists in their development as appropriate.
  • As needed or as required, assists in the coordination of support services as maintenance, security, food services, recreational programs, financial and accounting functions, media center activities, etc.
  • Manages the school(s) budget(s) and special school(s) funds.

  • Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, etc. required for the effective administration of the school.
  • Serves as chair to Response-to-Intervention (RTI)/Multi-tier System of Supports (MTSS) team for all students referred to general education early intervening services and/or special programs or ensures effectively implementation of the RTI/MTSS process at the PLC level.
  • Serves as chair of the building IDEA and Section 504 pre-referral and referral teams (or delegates this responsibility).
  • In the absence of the Director of Special Services serves on the IEP Team as District Representative, or delegates this responsibility, for all students enrolled in special education and is responsible for implementing all aspects of IDEA.
  • Serves as the school’s Section 504 case manager and/or delegates this responsibility for students found to be eligible under Section 504 criteria of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Is responsible for the administration of district and state testing programs including the ISAT as directed by Board policies and state regulations.
  • Establishes and maintains favorable relations with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and to solicit support for overall school objectives and programs; to interpret Board policies and administrative directives; and to discuss and resolve individual student problems.
  • Assists in the development, revisions and evaluations of the curriculum by serving on curriculum committees or other assignments as requested by the Superintendent or designee.
  • Is responsible for the safety of the students.
  • Assumes responsibility for the administration and maintenance of the school plant and facilities.
  • Seeks out opportunities for professional growth.
  • Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.

  • OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

  • TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:


This is a full-time position. Benefits will be in accordance with approved board policy. Salary will be commensurate with years of experience and education.


  • EVALUATION:


Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent and/or Designee in accordance with board policy.
