Job Title: Copywriter (Part-time)
Department: Marketing & Communications
Reports to: Director of Communications
Job Duration: 7 Months (May-Nov), 3 days a week (Salary: $14,000 – 18,000)
Position summary:
The copywriter and proofreader plays a key role in FIAF’s Marketing team, drafting and finalizing copy for all FIAF platforms including website, social media, advertisements, invitations and flyers. This position, reporting to the Director of Communications, has drafting and proof-reading copy as its core responsibilities, described below.
General responsibilities:
Draft copy
- Draft engaging, concise, and—where applicable—SEO-driven final copy for FIAF (working from previously submitted blurbs & synopses) for upcoming events, language classes, and special announcements. This could include but is not limited to:
- Festivals (Crossing the Line, Bastille Day, Animation First)
- Performances and events
- Film series and screenings
- Seasonal language class registration for FIAF Language Center in New York and Montclair
- Copy will be used across FIAF’s various marketing channels, including but not limited to:
- Digital Advertisements
- Fliers and posters
- Mailed collateral
- Website
- Social Media
Proofreading copy
- Review and proofread copy
- FIAF Newsletter
- FIAF.org
- FIAF social media channels
- Invitations
- Fundraisers
- Advertisements (print & online)
- Flyers
- Discuss with Director of Communications best practices and processes for getting copy approved by internal teams.
- Coordinate copy schedule including due dates, time for feedback and final copy drop-dead-dates for FIAF communications with Director of Communications.
- Attend meetings with Director of Communications with FIAF programmers (film & cultural affairs) as needed to discuss copy requests and draft schedules/deadlines.
Qualifications
- Experience writing copy for an educational, cultural, or art institution strongly preferred (writing examples/portfolio required)
- Innovative and creative thinker
- Ability to be efficient and effective in a fast-paced environment
- Must have primary or bilingual fluency in written and spoken English
- Some knowledge of the French language is preferred.
- Must have fluency with MS Office and Google suite
