Position Summary:
Fresco Produce is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to ensure the quality and safety of our produce. The QC Inspector will be responsible for inspecting incoming and outgoing shipments, monitoring the handling and storage of products, and ensuring all produce meets company and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspection of Produce: Conduct thorough inspections of incoming and outgoing produce to ensure it meets quality standards, including size, appearance, freshness, and packaging integrity.
- Quality Monitoring: Continuously monitor the quality of produce during storage, processing, and packaging, identifying any issues such as spoilage or damage.
- Sampling and Testing: Perform sampling and quality checks based on company standards and regulatory requirements, including measuring weight, temperature, and visual checks.
- Documentation: Accurately document inspection results, including details on non-conformance, corrective actions taken, and overall product quality.
- Compliance Checks: Ensure that all produce meets minimum USDA standards, food safety regulations, and company quality policies.
- Product Grading: Grade produce based on appearance, condition, and customer requirements.
- Reporting Issues: Promptly report any quality issues or product defects to management and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the receiving, repack, production, and shipping departments to ensure proper handling of produce.
- Sanitation Oversight: Ensure that hygiene and sanitation standards are maintained throughout the storage and handling processes.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in quality control, inspection, or handling of fresh produce.
- Strong knowledge of USDA grading standards and food safety regulations.
- Keen attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaborating with team members.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and move heavy boxes of produce 50 lbs).
- Ability to work in refrigerated environments (cooler or freezer areas) for portions of the shift.
