Job Summary
Responsibilities
- Position is 2nd shift (2 PM - 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday)
- Salary Range: $23.45 - 24.45/hr
- Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to experience level, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
This position reports to the supervisor for the functional area to which they are assigned and has no direct reports. The Associate Scientist position works closely with other departments, such as Operations, Validations, Product Development, Quality Systems, Product Release and Chemistry to assure the support of the Microbiology department on various projects, studies and routine tasks.
The individual holding the position of Associate Scientist shall be responsible for coordinating the timely completion of routine and project testing. This person will also be responsible for coordinating the timely completion of routine and special finished product testing and environmental issues. They will assist with the training of Production and Quality Control personnel in microbiological tests and methods. Must be available to work overtime as necessary.
- Responsible for Gram Staining.
- Monitors and tracks laboratory results.
- Trains new department personnel on SOPs.
- Provides validation test support.
- Performs environmental monitoring and routine testing of in-process and finished products.
- Performs routine analysis related to the testing and release of Raw Material, In-Process Finished Product, and Stability.
- Assist with the execution of equipment and method validation.
- Reviews data generated by QC technicians and Approves testing paperwork.
- Assists in compiling data for Annual Reports.
- Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Must be trained and qualified in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e., respirators.
- Investigates and resolves nonconforming test results by completing thorough Environmental Excursion or Deviation investigations.

Requirements
- Associates Degree with 5 years’ experience.
- B.S. in Biological Science with 2 years’ experience preferred.
- Four-year college degree (non-biological science) with 3-5 years’ experience
- Excellent Verbal and Written communication skills are essential.
