Job Description
The professional registered nurse is an entry-level designation into the Clinical Advancement Program. This position requires the provision and coordination of clinically competent care for an assigned group of patients. The role involves delegation of tasks to direct patient care staff, including RNs, LVNs/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians.
Responsibilities
- Performs all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator Preceptor or in collaboration with other Registered Nurses.
- Collects and analyzes patient data pre-, during-, and post-hemodialysis treatment, documents in the patient medical record, and makes adjustments or modifications to the treatment plan as indicated.
- Assesses, collaborates, and documents the basic learning needs of patients/families to provide initial and ongoing education.
- Directs and provides hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients in collaboration with direct and ancillary patient care staff.
- Administers medications as prescribed or in accordance with approved algorithms and documents appropriate medical justification and effectiveness.
- Initiates or assists with emergency response measures.
- Participates in health care team meetings and staff training/orientation as assigned.
Requirements
This position requires a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current appropriate state licensure. The individual must meet the practice requirements in the state where employed and have a minimum of 9 months experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably with chronic/acute hemodialysis experience.
