Accounting Specialist - A/P

As one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, Fresh Direct Produce is looking for an energetic and proactive Accounting Specialist - AP team player to join our dynamic Vancouver team!

This full-time position reports to the Accounts Payable Manager and is responsible for handling day-to-day account payable activities within the department, as well as processing and monitoring the payments in an effective and efficient manner. The successful candidate will be a strong team collaborator, able to work independently, and has solid analytical thinking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Accurately process a high volume of transactions monthly, ensuring minimum daily Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met
• Manage Accounts Payable mailbox related to individual workload responsibilities
• Ensure vendor issues are investigated and resolved as per department SLA
• Perform vendor reconciliations and ensure statements are current
• Review daily cargo receipts and inform stakeholders of any discrepancies
• Notify inventory group of data entry/receiving department errors on cargo receipts
• Prepare and process weekly cheque runs and electronic payments
• Perform other duties as required to support the Accounting Department

Qualifications

• 2 years proven ability to lead others in a high-volume AP department
• Holder of an accounting certificate/diploma and 2nd level CGA/CMA or equivalent progressive accounting designation is advantageous
• Intermediate Excel & technical competency
• Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with others
