What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packing Machine Operator (1st Shift) position at Fresh Express?
Summary:
The PMO will demonstrate organizational skills, communication, teamwork skills and possess good math
aptitude. They should be able to do heavy lifting and have flexible availability in schedule. They must have
strong interpersonal skills in working with supervisors, managers and crew leads. They must strive for
consistency high rate of productivity and quality in order to meet customer delivery schedules. Actively
leads quality by work habits, machine enhancements and proactive participation in quality procedures.
Job Function Statements - Essential Functions:
1. Maintain packaging machines supplies & inventory
2. Schedule clean, inspect, lube maintenance on machines
3. Troubleshoot mechanical problems
4. Work with packaging technician on new product development
5. Coordinate and monitor multiple bagger operations to assure maximum productivity and timely
completion of production schedule
6. Maintain all packaging related documentation
7. Review all operator daily paperwork
8. Provide input to develop individual and department goals
9. Act as a leader and support teamwork
10. Plan and execute own work
11. Run machines through breaks and lunches
12. Responsible for adherence to GMP policies, quality standards, production guidelines and safety
huddles
13. Understands all quality control tests in the pack out area.
14. Assures quality products are being produced
15. Occasionally directs others (i.e. packers)
Required Qualifications/Skills:
1. Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
2. Needs knowledge of product specifications and their applications.
3. Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift, perform repetitive motions throughout. shift
such as push/pull/lift, bend continuously throughout the shift, and be able to climb stairs or step
up onto a platform several times a day.
4. Must be able to work in a noisy, wet and cold environment (32 to 36 degrees Fahrenheit).
5. Must be able to work 6 consecutive days, overtime and weekends as necessary.
6. Must have knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other
techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of the raw product mix.
7. Must be able to attend daily PMO pre-shift meetings.
Experience:
Experience with packing machines preferred but not required
