Job Title and Overview
Director of Education – Richard P. Garmany Fresh Start Academy- We are seeking an experienced educator and leader to serve as the Director of the Richard P. Garmany Fresh Start Academy. This full-time position, Monday through Friday (7 AM - 3:30 PM), combines in-person instruction in woodworking, carpentry, drywall, and construction with program development and oversight. The position will involve teaching adults—many with no prior carpentry experience—who are working to rebuild their lives. You will support their journey by imparting valuable technical skills, workplace safety knowledge, and personal development through hands-on training and individual coaching
Essential Job Functions
- Teaching and Instruction:
- Lead and manage a class of 6-8 adult students, guiding them through a 6-week curriculum focused on carpentry and general construction.
- Teach skills related to woodworking, carpentry, drywall, and workplace safety, with an emphasis on hands-on learning.
- Operate machinery and power tools in a safe and effective manner.
- Administer coursework, competency tests, and provide feedback on student progress.
- Program Management:
- Develop and manage program curricula, ensuring alignment with Fresh Start’s mission and goals.
- Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs, ensuring they are delivered efficiently and meet objectives.
- Create and manage program budgets, ensuring financial sustainability and compliance with funding requirements.
- Partnerships and Community Engagement:
- Collaborate with partner organizations to schedule classes and gather feedback.
- Foster relationships with community partners, donors, and stakeholders to support the program’s success.
- Evaluation and Reporting:
- Develop program evaluation frameworks and assess the effectiveness of each class or project.
- Analyze program data and prepare reports for senior management, funders, and stakeholders.
Education and Experience
- Strong background in carpentry, general construction, and workplace safety.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in teaching or leading in a related field (carpentry, construction, or education) preferred.
- Experience with adult learners and non-profit programs is highly preferred.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to manage programs, budgets, and staff.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary range with opportunity to earn an annual bonus.

Salary : $61,000 - $680,000
