JOB SUMMARY
The Full Charge Bookkeeper will serve as a critical element in the effective administration and smooth implementation of Fresno Metro Ministry work. The position will be based in the Fresno Metro Ministry office. The Full Charge Bookkeeper will be responsible for overseeing the organization's financial activities, managing grants and contracts, preparing salary and operating budget projections, tracking grant deadlines and reporting, and supervising two fiscal assistants. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, organizational skills, and expertise in QuickBooks.
The Full Charge Bookkeeper will work collaboratively with both program and development staff in fund development, tracking, coding, and reporting on grant expenditures and deploying grant resources toward their proper purposes.
Occasional travel may be required, with expenses to be covered by an employer.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Financial Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and current financial records using QuickBooks.
- Record and categorize financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Bank Reconciliation:
- Conduct monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Monitor and reconcile credit card transactions.
Grant and contract Management:
- Collaborate with program managers to oversee grant funds effectively.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports for grant-related activities, ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
- Prepare and track invoices for numerous grants and contracts.
- Monitor grant deadlines and reporting requirements to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with program managers to manage grant finances effectively.
- Knowledgeable budget-tracking and project management. Intermediate understanding of accounting concepts, budgeting concepts, creating an audit trail, and operating internal controls.
Budgeting and Projections:
- Develop and monitor organizational budgets.
- Prepare detailed salary and operating budget projections, providing insights for strategic decision-making.
Supervision:
- Manage and supervise a fiscal assistants, providing guidance and support.
- Coordinate work assignments and ensure the timely completion of tasks.
Financial Reporting:
- Generate and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Provide regular financial reports to internal and external stakeholders and the Board of Directors.
Payroll Administration:
- Knowledgeable about Payroll Process and Payroll Entry .
- Ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations.
Compliance:
- Stay abreast of relevant accounting regulations and ensure organizational compliance.
- Support the annual audit process, addressing auditor inquiries.
Communication:
- Collaborate with various departments to collect financial information and provide necessary support.
- Clearly communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Full Charge Bookkeeper, preferably in a non-profit organization.
- Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledgeable of accounting principles and practices.
- Knowledge of grant and contract management.
- Experience in preparing salary and operating budget projections.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is generally performed in an environmentally-controlled setting, although Metro has community gardens sites we supervise and a fleet of food cargo vans that pick up and deliver food five days a week at multiple sites across Fresno as well. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs; speak and hear, both in person and by telephone; and use fingers and hands repetitively to operate office equipment, including keyboards, and to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or bend and may lift up to 25 pounds.
