Position Summary
Essential Functions
- Provide operational, strategic, and fiscal leadership and planning for all university facilities, grounds, transportation, and custodial needs.
- Lead and supervise the facilities department.
- Lead planning and design of campus spaces
- Diligently document and address personnel issues.
- Develop and implement ongoing professional growth plans for the Facilities staff.
- Ensure all aspects of Facilities comply with Dept of Public Health, OSHA, and other relevant regulations.
- Provide relevant safety training to all department technicians at least monthly.
- Ensure that maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance plan and capital improvement program.
- Work proactively with other departments to identify and address issues.
- Manage contracts for outsourced functions.
- Prepare the annual operating and capital budgets and work within the approved budgets.
- Act as Owner’s Representative for construction projects.
- Manage maintenance and improvement projects
- Identify and implement ways of reducing energy costs.
- Maintain inventory control system for equipment and supplies.
- Maintain current drawings and engineering records describing facilities and grounds.
- Track record of working effectively with suppliers, contractors, customers, etc.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience in the building trades.
- Minimum four years’ supervisory experience in facilities or construction management in a facility of comparable scope and scale.
- Excellent knowledge and experience in a broad range of building trades, custodial practices, and grounds maintenance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, customer service orientation, ability to interact with colleagues and the public in an efficient and professional manner.
- Organizational capabilities, detail orientation, and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Track record of making good decisions promptly and with minimal direction.
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Possession of a valid California driver’s license, excellent driving record.
- Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays as required.
Preferred
- Experience working in an educational institution.
- Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience in the building trades.
Environmental Conditions
- Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes part of the time.
- Frequent work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Frequent computer use at a workstation, up to eight hours per day.
- Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
- Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
- Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming.
Physical Demands
- This position functions both indoors and outdoors
- Perform the following, with or without reasonable accommodation: stand, sit, kneel, stoop, reach, lift, grasp, finger, see (near and far) for reading and data analysis on a computer screen, hear and talk for ordinary conversation and telephone calls.
- Perform analytical and cognitive thinking and decision making.
- Approximately 50% of this position’s duties require use of a computer.
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Attendance and punctuality.
- Travel alone between campuses and properties.
- Based on the main campus of Fresno Pacific University.
