This position is responsible for modeling excellent guest service to Zoo guests and members, plus providing primary support to department leadership for the daily operations of the ticket booth, all ancillary outlets and other assigned areas.

Full-Time employees receive our comprehensive compensation package which includes 100% employer paid Medical/Dental/Vision, Employee Assistance Program, 401k, 10 Paid Holidays, Paid Sick and Paid Vacation time on an accrued basis. The pay range for this position is $19.48 - $21.53 per hour. Offers will be based on the successful candidate's experience.

Guest Service Responsibilities
Greets Zoo guests in a friendly, professional manner.
Completes cash and credit card transactions for Zoo entry fees, animal feedings and other purchases with accuracy, efficiency, and security.
Actively promotes Zoo Membership sales to guests entering the Zoo.
Provides zoo guests with general information about Zoo operations and events.
Performs cash counts and reconciliation of cash drawer to ensure the accuracy of daily transactions.
Provides support to Department Leadership regarding daily management and functionality of the Cash Room.
Maintains cashier workstation in a neat, organized manner at all times.
Monitors the cleanliness, upkeep, and care of the Guest Service supply storeroom
Responsible for the inventory of workstation supplies, including membership cards and related items, plus other miscellaneous supplies.
Performs Guest Ambassador duties when needed.
Connect our guests with the mission of the zoo.
Accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
Performs special assignments and projects as requested and assists with other shifts as needed.
Other duties as assigned.


Operations Assistant Responsibilities

Facilitates effective communication between the Guest Services leadership and staff on a daily basis, ensuring that zoo news, department updates, and other information is provided in a timely manner to the appropriate parties.
Monitors the quality of skill set and abilities of other non-exempt, non-management established department team members
Monitors safe work practices for all Guest Services staff.
Coordinates the team to ensure efficient and effective workflow, makes appropriate logistical decisions and planning for current and future needs, and assists with intradepartmental coordination.
Ability to perform and function as a leader to ensure overall operational quality.
Provides training, and mentoring to current and newly-hired Guest Services staff, ensuring the training is consistent with current position needs and cross-functional opportunities.
Ensures the Zoos mission and vision are regularly modeled and driven. Assists management in developing and updating area policies.
Effectively drives departmental goals as well as performs special assignments and projects as requested.
An optimistic can do attitude plus the ability to accept and embrace positive change, both Departmental and Zoo-wide, is required.
The ability to embody a collaborative, teamwork-minded approach with the underlying vision of elevating the overall guest service experience is desired.

EDUCATION AND JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum two years experience in a customer or guest service role, including cash-handling responsibilities are required.
Minimum one year in a leadership, skills training, or supervisory role is strongly preferred.
General knowledge of accounting procedures is preferred.
Excellent written and verbal English communications skills required. Bilingual (Spanish or Hmong) communication skills a plus.
This is a full-time role with expected full-time availability. Ability to work evenings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays is required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

In this position the employee is normally seated but may be required to stand for long periods. The employee may be required to bend, stoop, or kneel.
The employee is regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
Close visual acuity to view a computer monitor and read printed materials.
Hand and finger dexterity to receive and count paper money and coins and operate a cash register.
Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication (in person and via telephone), at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. The employee must convey detailed or important spoken information to others in small and large group settings.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The position primarily functions indoors, with occasional exposure to outdoor environments with heat, cold, and inclement weather.
The position may work in close proximity to Zoo animals.
Occasional local travel may be required.
