Job Title: Janitorial Associate
Work Hours: MondaythruFriday
Shifts: 1:30PM-10:00PM
Reports To: HR Manager
Pay Grade: Associate Level
FLSA: Non-Exempt, Hourly
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Janitorial Associate is responsible for custodial work in offices, breakroom, manufacturing facility, and other general public and private common areas. Accountable for the overall cleaning, minor maintenance, and communication of facility needs.
Primary Duties / Essential Functions:
· Actively practice safety in all aspects of the job
· Perform general cleanup of all areas of the building as directed
· Complete non-routine cleaning according to specified job orders
· Handle emergency cleaning and upkeep requests
· Ensure rooms are maintained and fully equipped
· Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub, wax and polish floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines
· Dust and wash wall, clean ceilings and dust and polish light fixtures
· Wash blinds and windows, may replace blinds
· Sanitize and detail bathroom fixtures and mirrors
· Remove recycling, garbage and other debris from the facility daily and prepare bins for weekly pick-up
· Remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors
· Manage routine upkeep of exterior employee areas, green space and parking lot
· Sweep sidewalks or perform other incidental seasonal tasks
· Sort, wash, load and unload laundry (e.g. lab coats, gloves, etc.)
· Sustain a constant sense of urgency and high employee morale
· Be constantly aware of expense control and cost savings
· Keep supervisor informed of anything affecting the cleanliness of spaces or functionality of equipment
· Know and follow Standard Work
· Willingness to work overtime as needed
· Other duties as may be assigned by Supervisor
Workplace Requirements:
· Stand: Must be able to remain in a standing position75% of the time
· Walk (move / traverse): Needs to constantly move about inside and outside the facilities to complete janitorial and cleaning needs
· Exposure to work (exposed, work around): Works in extremes of cool, interior 45-degree and damp conditions, to hot, exterior conditions
· Carry weight, lift (move, transport, position, put, install, remove): Frequently lifts and carries cleaning materials and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds

· Taste/Smell (detect, distinguish, determine): Able to detect smell of ammonia
· Use of PPE: May come in contact with various contaminants (e.g. allergens, chemicals, viruses, bodily fluids, etc.); appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) shall be provided and utilized to the fullest extent
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
Experience:
2 years’ experience in janitorial, custodial or housekeeping.
Reliability or history of good attendance (less than 5 attendance points) and must maintain good attendance.
