What are the responsibilities and job description for the NFL Flag Football Referee (Head Referee) position at Friday Night Flag?
Who We Are:
Friday Night Flag is an NFL Flag-affiliated league open to boys and girls, ranging from Pre-K to 8th grade. Our games are fast-paced and high-tempo, 5 vs. 5 with 8-10 players on each team. We place a strong emphasis on fostering team play and sportsmanship.
Friday Night Flag is not just a children's league; it's a community. We partner with local food vendors and businesses to create a family-friendly atmosphere on game nights, fostering a true neighborhood spirit at our events.
Who You Are:
- Previous officiating experience in football or any sport is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to attend all game nights and training.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
- Must be able to keep up with the pace of players on the field.
- Must be authorized to be able to work in the USA.
What You'll Do:
- Attend our referee training session, scrimmage, and flag football games of the season, every Friday night from April 11 to May 16, at Willow Park in Logan, UT. (Refs typically work 4-5 hours for 4-6 nights.) Championship Night is Saturday, May 17 in the evening.
- Learn, teach, and enforce flag football rules, making quick decisions and consistent calls with the level of play.
- Promote good sportsmanship through demonstrating respectful behavior to players, coaches, and parents.
- Maintain control of the games, ensuring a safe, family-friendly atmosphere.
- Assist league organizers with field duties (set up/clean up) or any other related duties as assigned.
