Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of the Porter position. The Porter is responsible for cleaning dishes, pots and pans, for trash removal from the kitchen and dining areas, and for maintenance of floors in a clean and sanitary condition.

Essential Job Functions:
- Washes and properly stores pots and pans used in meal preparation and service; maintains sink and work areas in a clean and sanitary condition.
- Stocks incoming food as necessary.
- Sweeps and wet mops floors in coolers, kitchen, dish-room, hallway, loading dock and storage areas at designated times during the day per manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Transports tray-line carts to appropriate neighborhood per job schedule.
- Removes and properly disposes of garbage and trash from kitchen, dining room, dish room, etc. at designated times.
- Empties recycling containers to appropriate totes.
- Pours coffee and hot water for tray-line for evening meal.
- Participates in in-service education, department meetings and safety programs.
- Completes liquid oxygen filling for nursing units Monday through Friday in the AM.
- Performs other duties as required by management or by Administration from time to time.
Expectations of the Position:
- Dependable, report to work on-time for every schedule shift (ready to work at beginning - start of shift) and work full schedule shifts unless physically unable or pre-approved Paid Time Off (PTO) which includes personal and vacation.
- Willing and able to work overtime and weekends as required by the position and/or approved by management.
- Have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Must be clean and neat in appearance and have a “friendly” service-oriented personality.
- Abide by work-related / job procedures and organization policies; (refer to the Employee Handbook)
Conditions of Employment:
Work is performed in a clean, well lit, “Home-Like,” nursing Home setting.
Employee must be able to perform essential job functions (reasonable accommodation may apply).

Must meet the general health requirements set forth by Friendly Home.
May be requested to assist in the evacuation of Members or perform other procedures to protect the safety of Members, visitors and team members during emergency situations.
