Purpose : The Assistant Lead is first and foremost an assistant to the shift lead. They help maintain order throughout the shift and provide direction in the absence of the shift lead. Assistant's are also responsible for organizing client belongings, inventory, previous client belongings, and other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the shift lead or the site manager.

Management :
Assist the shift lead in keeping Switchpoint standards during the shiftResponsible for taking charge of the shift in absence of the lead.Collaboration with other assistant leads is crucial.May receive authority from shift lead or site manager to handle disciplinary actions.Maintain transparency and communicate frequently with supervisor regarding things related to the daily operations of the shelter, oversees the shift workflow of the shelter.Keep daily notes updatedDocument employee concerns or strengths and report those to supervisor.Maintain your duties as support staff, completing side work along with the duties of the area you are assigned.Handle clients complaints as best as possible, redirecting to other management as needed.Support and train staff as needed.De-escalate issues between staff. Work to ensure that all situations are treated fairly and without bias.Hold both clients, staff, and yourself accountable to the rules of the facility. Document infractions.Participate in Leadership meetings as needed.Exits & Property :
Familiarize yourself with the exit protocols concerning client exits and property storage.Review daily logs for a list of clients that exited during the day's previous shifts.Ensure exits were enacted properly and that any remaining client belongings are documented and stored for the appropriate amount of time.Ensure to label stored belongings with the name of the client and date their exit.Dispose of abandoned property after 72 hours unless an extension has been granted to the client. Document property disposal times and (if possible) which client they belonged to.During this phase, search belongings to ensure no medications or other important documents have been discarded.Gather medication and important documents and file / store them in the correct place.Document and alert supervisor of any meds / important documents filedMedication needing to be discarded will be stored in the medication discard bin which management will then turn in to proper authorities to correctly dispose of.Collaborate with other assistant leads on all exit and property related tasks and information.Ensure exits are being properly handled daily with a minimum weekly clearing out of the storage area.Inventory
Collaborate with other leads to keep track of all supplies currently at the shelter.Collaborate with other leads, the site manager, and the finance department about any orders made or en route to the site.At minimum once a week, do an inventory count to ensure supplies are not running low.Any supplies that are running low, communicate to the site manager to ensure an order is placed in a timely manner.Hold yourself and other staff accountable to supply usage to ensure we are not using supplies wastefully.As an assistant lead, you may be asked to do one or all of these responsibilities depending on the needs of the facility and the availability of other staffRequired Skills / Abilities :
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Excellent organization and attention to detail.Ability to deescalate both staff and clients.Ability to take charge or step back as needed.Creative problem solving.Taking the initiative.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Required Experience
Previous supervisory experience is preferred.Must have worked with a vulnerable population. Minimum 6 months-a year.Experience in de-escalation is a must.Experience in inventory or other supply organization preferred.Must be humble and willing to take direction.
