What are the responsibilities and job description for the Friends of the High Line Volunteer - 2025 position at Friends of the High Line?
Throughout our history, dedicated volunteers have helped make the High Line a success. We couldn’t keep this public space thriving without the neighbors and community members who share their time, expertise, feedback, talent, and energy. Due to the nature of working in a public, outdoor environment, all volunteers should be prepared to interact with park patrons and experience various weather conditions during their work.
The High Line Volunteer program comprises a friendly and inclusive group of individuals who share a common interest in public spaces, civic involvement, gardening, history, and environmental sustainability. Members of this community come from diverse backgrounds, and they share a deep concern for their neighborhood and New York City as a whole.

About Friends of the High LineThe High Line is both a nonprofit organization and a public park on the West Side of Manhattan. We’re devoted to reimagining public spaces to create connected, healthy neighborhoods and cities through our work with communities on and off the High Line.
Built on a historic, elevated rail line, the High Line was always intended to be more than a park. You can walk through the gardens, view art, experience a performance, enjoy food or beverage, or connect with friends and neighbors while enjoying a unique perspective of New York City.
Nearly 100% of our annual budget comes through donations. The City of New York owns the High Line, and we operate under a license agreement with NYC Parks.

As part of our commitment to living up to these values and advancing equity within our organization and through our work, we are committed to an equitable hiring process.
