Position Overview: The Associate Director of Development reports to and collaborates with the Director of Development to manage and implement the operating program and budget of the fundraising and constituent relations department to advance the mission of Friends School of Baltimore. The Associate Director provides innovative leadership, managerial oversight, and strategic direction to the Office of Development through project coordination, staff supervision and performance management, strategic planning and implementation, and budget management, upholding and ensuring department-wide collaboration.
This position is a salaried, exempt, full-time, regular 12-month position. Days of work are Monday through Friday and the core hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional local and out-of-area and overnight travel is expected. Evening and weekend work required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Director in developing and implementing strategic efforts related to annual, capital, major and planned gifts, and endowment fundraising; alumni and parent programs; donor research and stewardship; events management; gift accounting and records management oversight.
- Oversee the annual giving and constituent relations programs and team members, which includes: Director of Annual Giving & Development Operations, Assistant Director of Annual Giving, Director of Alumni & Parent Engagement, and Development Assistant for Gift Stewardship.
- Manage a portfolio of individual giving prospects.
- Work with Development Assistant to the Office of Development to ensure smooth office operations and administration.
- Oversee and coordinate implementation of the moves management system.
- Develop, coordinate, and support projects and communications across teams to ensure seamless implementation and cultivate a collaborative environment.
- Direct advancement & fundraising communications across the department.
- With the Director of Development, manage office personnel operations, including the hiring, training, and onboarding new staff and implementation of annual goal-setting/evaluation process for the Office of Development to help staff successfully meet their goals.
- Coordinate annual budgeting process and oversee annual operating budget.
- Build and sustain an inclusive work environment that reflects and responds to the diversity of the advancement team and the broader Friends School community; model respectful dialogue and cultivate belonging among the team.
- Direct and deliver professional development activities including monthly workshops and annual retreats for the Office of Development.

- A bachelor's degree and 5-7 years professional experience in fundraising and management
