Position Overview:
Friends School of Baltimore seeks a substitute nurse for the school Health Center. This individual will be responsible for collaborating with one of the full-time nurses to care for members of the community including students, staff, faculty and children enrolled in the on-campus daycare. Responsibilities include:
- Providing nurturing care for the ill and injured school community and provide thorough follow-up in a timely manner with appropriate Friends School personnel;
- Informing parents, guardians, or emergency contact person of any significant medical issue which may have occurred during the school day in a timely manner;
- Dispensing medication prescribed by the student's physician during school hours in a confidential manner and administering over-the-counter medications per parent/guardian approval as deemed necessary;
- Providing routine care for diabetic students, including glucose monitoring and insulin administration in accordance with student health plans;
- Documenting visits to the Health Center.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred or the completion of a 2-year RN course.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office preferred.
- Experience with electronic health records preferred. Previous experience working with children preferred; school setting preferred.
