POSITION SUMMARY :

Full Time Security Manager

The Manager, Security oversees the Security Department and supervises its officers at his / her assigned Community to ensure that the department and its officers perform duties and responsibilities as outlined by Friendship Village policy. The Manager, Security also acts as a Security Officer.   He or she is trained and licensed to perform all duties and responsibilities of a Friendship Village Security Officer while addressing the security needs of residents and staff and protecting the buildings and assets of Friendship Village.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES :

Performs those supervisory activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including provision for the selection and development of employees, salary and budget administration, employee counseling and motivation, disciplinary action, organizing, integrating and measuring the work performed within the department. Manages department time records / payroll corrections through the Friendship Village Payroll and Time keeping systems.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS :

Reports to :     Assistant Director, Security

Supervises :    Security Staff at assigned Community

Supports :       Assigned Friendship Village Community

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

Two years minimum experience as a Security Officer or similar experience.

Previous supervisory or management experience is desired.

2-year college degree in Security Management, Disaster Preparedness, Criminal Justice or a related field is preferred.

Strong computer skills, experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.

Ability to learn and be proficient with the various software used for timekeeping, fire panels, CCTV and access control.

Must be able to learn and use various “smart” phone / “data” phone applications to access and send information, take pictures and communicate via voice, email or text.

Ability to understand, follow and support established policies and procedures of the Community.

Ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately;

Good understanding of basic math.

Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision, prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Ability to coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency and adapt teaching style to the situation and diversity of learners.

Work collaboratively in a team environment that promotes inclusiveness and communication among team members.

Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and to communicate for understanding of requirements.

Constantly able to walk 90% of the work day; and be able to walk and drive in the different lighting conditions, weather conditions, and surface conditions of Friendship Village campuses .

Occasionally required to sit in a stationary position.

Occasionally performs activities that require stooping, bending and reaching, squatting, balancing, and trunk twisting throughout the day.

Constantly able to communicate verbally and in written form.

Frequently able to detect and discern both loud and soft sounds.

Constantly able to use hands and fingers to type, write, and file.

Frequently able to use all types of vision, such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception, to complete daily tasks.

Occasionally required to detect unusual odors that could indicate environmental issues.
