Job Summary
We are a well-established used car dealership in Fishers, Indiana. This bookkeeper role is to support all accounting responsibilities. The individual will be responsible for accurately recording sales, posting payables, reconciling statements, payroll, and commission payable on sold units and to maintain accurate accounting of vehicle inventories. Bookkeeping experience with new or used car dealerships is a plus. The candidate should be knowledgeable with AP, AR, Check Distribution, Payroll, RO's, Parts etc. The Bookkeeper is also responsible for maintaining selected schedules. You will be an integral part of our team!
Essential Duties
- Assist in preparing and maintaining accurate financial statements and reports according to dealership guidelines.
- Provide department managers with reports as needed.
- Reconcile physical inventory with general ledge on monthly and year-end basis.
- Using proper accounting procedures, maintain accurate records and analyses and prepare all information for the Controller
- Oversee all title processing.
- Attend managers meetings as needed.
- Maintains professional appearance.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Office Management and Bookkeeping Duties
- Complete and/or supervise all accounts receivable and payable transactions, issue checks and EFT payments.
- Cap all deals, includes complete review of all deal jacket documents.
- Calculate employee wages from records or time cards. Prepare and enter payroll through contracted payroll service. Monitor all payroll service tax reports. Prepare all journal entries.
- Maintain sales staff commission statements.
- Reconcile and balance all general ledger accounts.
- Compile after-market product reports and monthly remittances.
- File after-market product cancellations and remit refunds to proper recipient.
- Daily review of bank accounts, reconcile all activity. Address check positive pay and ACH positive pay every morning.
- Manage dealer plate inventory and sign out log.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Previous experience with accounting software, spreadsheets, and word processing software. Training specific to Dealertrack and Eleads CRM will be provided.
- Possesses proven capabilities in bookkeeping procedures.
- Demonstrates ability to plan and organize.
- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in listening to and following directions.
- Exhibits meticulous attention to detail.
- Is able to adapt to changing job requirements.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Background check required.
Education
- Associates degree (2 year). Relevant experience in Automotive Store Accounting may be substituted for Associates degree requirements.
