Title : Echocardiographer
Location : Manitowoc, WI
Contract : 13 Week assignment
Schedule : Shift : M-F 7 : 30 am – 4 : 00 pm with a call rotation on weekends 8 : 00 am – 12 : 00 noon Saturday / Sunday, every other weekend.
Requirements : -American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required. -American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). OR -Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification in cardiac ultrasound. AND -Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from CCI within 12 months of start. OR -Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from CCI within 12 months of start.

Job Summary : -The Echocardiographer is responsible for performing Transthoracic echocardiograms, setting up and assisting with Transesophageal Echocardiograms and, under the direction of a trained echocardiographer, setting up and performing exercise and Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms to the standards set forth by the American Society of Echocardiography and Froedtert Hospital. -This individual demonstrates increasing competency in delivery of care to a primarily adult population. -Other duties as assigned.
The Echocardiographer is responsible for performing Transthoracic echocardiograms setting up and assisting with Transesophageal Echocardiograms and under the direction of a trained echocardiographer setting up and performing exercise and Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms to the standards set forth by the American Society of Echocardiography and Froedtert Hospital. This individual demonstrates increasing competency in delivery of care to a primarily adult population. Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience : -One to three years’ experience as a cardiac sonographer is required. -Demonstrates proficiency by performing routine and emergency echocardiograms, including but not limited to 2-dimensional, 3- dimensional, Doppler, and Transesophageal echocardiograms as requested by physician and in accordance with standard practices. Provides echocardiography service at all necessary locations, working variable shifts, weekends, and providing emergent call coverage as scheduled. -Operates equipment necessary to perform all required procedures and obtains optimal images utilizing ancillary devices such as selected transducers, digital networking systems and off line analysis systems. Recognizes basis cardiac pathology. Analyzes patient's medical record to obtain history of symptoms and necessary information for performance of diagnostic procedures. Prepares preliminary reports for review and interpretation by Cardiologist including comparison of previous studies. -Operate equipment necessary to perform all required procedures and to obtain optimal diagnostic recording; utilize ancillary devices such as selected transducers, digital networking system, off-line analysis systems. Maintain equipment in working order, making minor adjustments and repairs. Perform routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and report any equipment malfunction to echo lab manager. -Sets up for and assists with Transesophageal Echocardiograms. Cleans and sterilizes TEE probe , performs TEE probe leakage testing according to dept. Policy and Procedure. -Maintains clean and orderly patient care environment. Maintain equipment in working order, making minor adjustments and repairs. Perform routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and reports any equipment malfunction to echo lab leader. -Participate in quality improvement activities; evaluate procedure results for technical quality and accuracy; maintain appropriate logs, files, and records. Review department performance in relation to established goals, implementing changes to effect outcomes. -Prepares and instructs patients pre- and post-procedure. -Utilizes ultrasound contrast according to ASE guidelines and indications and dept policy including understanding and explanation of potential side effects. RDCS or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International or completion of RDCS / RCS requirements within 12 months of employment is required. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire. One to three years experience as a cardiac sonographer is required.
Required Education : -Completion of a two-year Allied Health degree. -Successful completion of a 12-month CAAHEP approved School of Ultrasound Technology. OR -Cardiovascular Technology. OR -Equivalent education. Preferred Education : -Previous healthcare-related training such as CNA, EMT, PCA, or other is preferred. Required Certifications & Licensure : -American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required. -American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). OR -Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification in cardiac ultrasound. AND -Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from CCI within 12 months of start. OR -Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from CCI within 12 months of start. Preferred Certifications & Licensure : -N / A
Completion of a two-year Allied Health degree and successful completion of a 12-month CAAHEP approved School of Ultrasound Technology or Cardiovascular Technology or equivalent education. Work requires sufficient education / training to acquire American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification in cardiac ultrasound Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS). Previous health care related such as CNA EMT PCA or other is preferred.
