Job Description
Job Title : Radiologic Technologist
Job Specialty : Diagnostic Radiology General Procedures
Job Duration : 13 weeks
Shift : Monday - Friday, 1st and 2nd shifts with weekend rotation
Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours a week
Experience : Preferred - One year of current clinical experience in diagnostic radiology. Clinical student experience may be considered.
License : State license as a Radiographer
Certifications : ARRT registered RT (R) in diagnostic radiology, Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
Must-Have : Proficiency in EPIC
Job Description :
- Prepare patients and perform radiographic procedures in diagnostic radiology under the direction of a radiologist or other providers.
- Operate imaging equipment and perform diagnostic studies according to specific guidelines and prescribed protocols.
- Adhere to organizational customer service standards and support organizational excellence initiatives.
- Provide positive and effective interaction and communication with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Assist in patient care areas and perform ancillary services as necessary.
- Execute radiologic / fluoroscopic procedures accurately and efficiently with minimal discomfort to the patient.
- Explain examinations to patients and interview them to obtain personal medical history, documenting this information into RIS.
- Provide clear explanations and instructions to patients and assist them throughout the examination.
- Implement appropriate radiation protection for self and patients, following ALARA and prescribed safety standards.
- Position patients appropriately and select technical factors to produce images of maximum diagnostic quality with minimal repeats.
- Ensure correct image identification, including placement of ID markers and proper annotation.
- Review each study for technical accuracy and collaborate with other staff to ensure appropriate scheduling and throughput of exams.
- Assist in transporting patients as needed.
- Communicate and collaborate with radiologists and ordering providers during exams for guidance on protocols and order clarification.
- Approve images, match orders to images, and archive to PACS accurately and in a timely manner.
- Document fluoro time and estimated skin exposure for fluoro studies.
- Demonstrate proficiency with EPIC, following workflow from order entry / verification to end exam, including notes, medication documentation, and supply charges.
- Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling reassignment and shift rotations to support departmental needs.
- Proactively seek additional opportunities throughout the department to increase efficiency and create a cohesive work environment.
- Offer assistance to others by preparing exam rooms for the next patient, stocking supplies and linens, and maintaining a clean staff work area.
- Provide a positive teaching and learning environment for staff, students / interns, providers, and visitors, acting as a mentor and role model.
- Assist in the onboarding of new employees.
- Observe malfunctioning equipment and follow proper procedures to report and troubleshoot equipment issues.
