What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Operator position at Fromm Family Foods?
The Packaging Operator is responsible for the safe, accurate and timely (efficient) packaging of Fromm Family Foods products in the proper packaging.
Essential Functions:
1. Operator is able to perform all tasks on all packaging lines – rotating between jobs as determined by lead operator and/or supervisor.
2. Hang empty bags, fill, close, and guide bag in to heat sealer or sewing head.
3. Manually fold/unfold cases, accurately insert proper number of bags, and guide into case taper.
4. Manually stack cases and/or bags on pallets in proper count and configuration, in manner that is straight, square and stable for shipping to the customer.
5. Monitor quality of the product going in to the package; the accuracy, legibility and placement of the lot code, and appearance of the finished package – and report deviations to packaging lead.
6. If applicable, fill out paperwork according to company policy (ie: part numbers, dates, etc)
7. Complete all other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
8. Keep area around assigned work area clean and free from clutter.
9. Observe and suggest ideas for continuous improvement in the packaging department.
10. Abide by all safety rules and company policies.
Physical Requirements:
1. Frequently lift 30lbs up to 64” or 20lbs up to 72”. Infrequently lift 40lbs up to 64”.
2. Bend, Push/Pull, Squat, Reach, Grip, Grab, Hold various products, packaging and tools
3. Perform repetitive motions for assigned task
4. Stand for duration of shift (other than departmental approved breaks)
5. Ability to climb ladders and stairs. Able to work at elevated levels.
6. Able to work in various temperatures including extreme heat, humidity and cold.
7. Able to work in environment containing dust and potential allergens, and smells.
8. Able to perform basic visual requirements, read small print and differentiate colors.
9. Understand and communicate basic verbal and written instructions and respond to questions.
10. Able to perform basic math calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide)
11. Work a minimum of 40 hours per week, plus overtime to meet department goals
