Position/Job Summary:
The Laboratory Support Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating laboratory support activities across multiple business units. This role ensures the smooth functioning of biobanking operations, manages instrument and equipment maintenance, handles IQ/OQ/PQ processes, and fosters efficient collaboration across teams. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise, organizational skills, and a proactive mindset to maintain high standards of laboratory efficiency and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Biobanking Support:
- Implement and oversee biobanking operations, including sample storage, inventory management, and retrieval processes.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards related to biobanking activities.
- Coordinate sample tracking and database updates to maintain accurate records.
Instrument and Equipment Maintenance:
- Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Monitor performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate repairs and calibration services with vendors or internal teams.
IQ/OQ/PQ Processes:
- Plan, execute, and document Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) activities for laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to ensure timely qualification and validation.
- Maintain comprehensive records to support audits and regulatory compliance.
Cross-Unit Coordination:
- Act as a liaison between multiple business units to streamline laboratory support activities.
- Facilitate communication and resource sharing across teams to meet operational needs.
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and consistency in laboratory operations.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure all laboratory support activities comply with applicable regulations (e.g., GLP, CAP, CLIA, NYSDOH).
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including maintenance logs, qualification reports, and SOPs.
- Support internal and external audits as required.
Education, Experience & Skills Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of experience in laboratory operations, biobanking, or equipment maintenance.
