As a Bookbinder, you will be part of our production team, translating production requirements into visually appealing and functional products. You will maintain high-quality standards while operating and controlling a bindery stitcher or perfect binder safely. This role includes directing Technicians on the machine, reviewing job duties, training new employees, and ensuring all job requirements are met.
WHAT YOU’LL DO ON THE A-TEAM:
- Set up and control the assigned machine for each specified job.
- Maintain machine readiness, perform regular maintenance, and keep a clean, organized work area.
- Monitor and control product quality on a continuous basis.
- Direct Technicians in using the proper materials to maintain productivity.
- Run the machine at optimal production speeds according to set goals.
- Seek assistance when necessary to resolve setup or production issues.
- Provide feedback to management on slowdowns or machine issues.
- Participate in regular evaluations of Technicians as needed.
- Perform special duties assigned by the Bindery Manager or Supervisor.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain professionalism when interacting with visitors, customers, and employees.
- Uphold confidentiality on all matters related to the Bindery Department and company operations.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience with stitching and/or bindery machinery.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to use logic and conceptual thinking in daily tasks.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work weekends, overtime, or respond to manufacturing inquiries as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequent sitting and use of hands for typing, handling, and grasping objects.
- Regular speaking and listening.
- Occasional standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustments.
