Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Bookbinder to join our dynamic production team. This role is responsible for operating and maintaining bindery equipment, ensuring production requirements are met with a high level of quality and efficiency. The Bookbinder will set up, run, and troubleshoot machines while providing leadership to Technicians assigned to the production process. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate a bindery stitcher or perfect binder to meet job specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance on assigned machines and ensure a clean and organized workspace.
- Monitor and maintain product quality throughout the production process.
- Direct and manage assigned Technicians, including training and job duty review.
- Optimize production speeds and ensure operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and seek assistance for setup or running issues that impact productivity.
- Provide feedback to management on machine performance and production challenges.
- Participate in evaluations of Technicians as needed.
- Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
- Handle confidential information responsibly in accordance with company policies.
- Represent the company in a professional manner when interacting with customers, visitors, and employees.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience operating stitching and/or bindery machinery.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze and apply logic in troubleshooting production challenges.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Willingness to work weekends, overtime, or respond to manufacturing inquiries as needed.
- Frequent sitting and use of hands for typing, handling, and grasping objects.
- Occasional standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Specific vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
