What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Specialist position at Frontier Credit Union?
Position Overview:
The IT Specialist will assist with the day-to-day operations of the computer systems and Local Area Network. Knowledge of the MS Windows systems environments. The ability to learn and understand MS Server Latest versions, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, SQL Data Base management and Exchange. Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation of current technologies as it pertains to the growth of the credit union. This individual may assist with telecommunications, workstations, routers, switches and servers that support the credit union infrastructure and tracking and managing system life-cycle schedules and policies and other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Support applications, password reset, software updates. Hardware troubleshooting, changes to services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
- Install and configure systems applications and support IT Asset Management. Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures for business resumption/disaster recovery purposes.
- Assist with Network security messages and updates.
- Assist with wireless and Apple network.
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide increased efficiencies.
Operations and Support
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Perform regular file archival and purges as necessary.
- Create, change, and delete user accounts per department requests.
- Provide end user support for internal staff, investigate and troubleshoot workstation issues.
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with effected parties.
- Understands, applies, and complies with all Credit Union Policies and Procedures, State and Federal laws and regulations, and adheres to requirements set forth by the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
Maintenance
- Apply patches and upgrades on a regular basis and assist with upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
- Configure/add new services as necessary
Qualifications/Skills:
- High School diploma or equivalent, associate’s degree in computer science preferred.
- 1-2 years of technical experience supporting applications, systems, and workstations in a production environment.
- Knowledge of Windows administration: Microsoft Windows Operating Systems including installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, backup, recovery and client support.
- Experience with cisco routers, switches, telecommunication, applications a plus
- A Certification or other relevant certifications preferred
- Must possess valid driver’s license, have access to reliable transportation and maintain adequate vehicle/driver’s insurance. May require working beyond standard office hours and some overnight stays out of town.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Physical Requirements:
Bend, sit, or stand to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion; occasional lifting up to 30 lbs. Operate routine office equipment including computer terminals, keyboards, telephones, copiers, and calculators. Work on computer for up to 8 hours per day. Some locations may require ability to climb or descend stairs with minimal assistance in emergency situations.
