Graduate Admissions Counselor
Frostburg State University (FSU), Office of Admissions seeks applications for a full-time, exempt Graduate Admissions Counselor position. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Position includes the robust University System of Maryland benefits package, which is comprised of annual, personal, and sick leave, holidays, tuition remission, health, dental, vision, and life insurance, and retirement plans.
Responsibilities:
Enrollment Coaching and Advising:
- Serve as primary point of contact for assigned prospective students from first inquiry through the enrollment confirmation. Provide swift responses to inquiries, maintain professional written and verbal communication, and engage in strategic outreach at each stage of a student's progression through the enrollment funnel.
- Serve as the point person with EAB to ensure marketing and communications are aligned with FSU’s mission, transfer of prospective students are uploaded into the TargetX CRM, and developing enrollment reports for ROI.
- Advise prospective students on best program fit using a consultative approach combined with thorough knowledge of all F2F and online degree requirements, admissions policies, and procedures for new and existing programs.
- Advise prospective students on how existing credits from external institutions will transfer to FSU using transfer course equivalency tools.
- Ensure adherence to all university, college policies, student privacy/confidentiality and FERPA law.
Recruitment:
- Serve as liaison to an assigned academic and/or administrative unit to facilitate integrated recruitment and admission functions and resolve issues of competing priorities.
- Monitors progress toward recruitment, admission, or yield targets for assigned academic programs or populations, and proposes action or adjustments as needed.
- Assist in the development, editing and distribution of recruitment materials including student communications, programmatic advisement resources, guides, etc.
- Participate in recruitment activities including information sessions, webinars, and other events
- Engage with student success and academic advising staff to ensure smooth student hand-off after enrollment confirmation
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with one to three years of related experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary along with presentation skills.
- Organizational skills and ability to follow through.
- A commitment to excellence and to providing a high degree of customer service.
- An outgoing nature that is comfortable working alone but also as a member of a team in a high-volume environment is essential.
- Valid non-commercial driver’s license and eligibility to drive State cars, and a desire to travel required and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed to assist with student enrollment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management system (CRM).
